NSU is reliving, reflecting the “1619” era through the great Historian Scholars across the world.

Oh my God! This conference is amazing….I was born and raised in Virginia, forty five minutes from the famous Jamestown, where everything supposedly happened first , well there is a big correction about the first settlement that we were all raised up thinking, it was not Jamestown, it was Point Comfort (Ft. Monroe). This is the very reason you should learn your history for yourself. Can you imagine how much money Jamestown has made on their tours etc on wrong information? My elementary school trips every year, my daughter’s school trips every year…..wow! Wish you were here to hear the Legacy of Weyanoke presentation, they are African singers… Theya re taking us on a journey through song. I’m on the ship right now crossing the Atlantic singing a Harry Belafonte hit. Oh yes, we have made it to Jamaica and we are with the lady on the side of the road selling coconuts. We began to pick more coconuts and singing the coconut song. Whew, I’m tired now….I’m moving on now. I’m in South Carolina now, singing a spiritual, Lord I’m down here waiting on you…that man dressed in his African garments, chrisp tenor voice! Ummm listen to those three sweet voices backing him in three part harmony. Sounds so sweet. Just noticed the two elders sitting at the big drums swaying from side to side. This is history and it’s mine… My trip is almost over…wait I hear another song, “I’m gonna ride the chariot in the morning Lord”. Wish you were here.
